Marcia will talk about her professional journey and highlight some of the things that she learned in each role that they did not teach in college.

Marcia L. Allert joined The Dallas Morning News as Director of Visual Journalism in 2016 and oversees a team of award-winning visual journalists and editors. The team works closely with the editorial department to produce compelling visual journalism that diversifies and deepens the DMN’s storytelling. She’s worked at the Associated Press, ABC News, The New York Times, and The Daily Beast. Allert is also a TEDxSMU speaker, served on the Pulitzer photo jury, and was on the judging committee for CPOY and POYi. She serves on the board for the National Press Photographers Association and the W Eugene Smith Memorial Fund.
