Jon Funabiki

In addition to teaching, Jon Funabiki is executive director of Renaissance Journalism, which sponsors local and national social justice journalism initiatives. A career media specialist, he been an international news reporter for The San Diego Union, executive director of the Center for Integration and Improvement of Journalism and deputy director of Media, Arts and Culture for The Ford Foundation, one of the world’s leading philanthropic institutions. Funabiki also directs the university’s Lab for Media and Community.
