It's time to apply for internships!
Overview
Fall is the best time to apply for internships. Come hear from two students who have completed internships and then learn about the prestigious Dow Jones News Fund College Internship Program.
12:30-1 p.m. Panel of SFSU student interns:
- Daniel Eduardo Hernandez, spring 2024 intern for KQED, summer intern for De Los section of the Los Angeles Times
- Paula Sibulo, summer news intern for ABC8/FOX11 in Charleston, West Virginia
1-1:30 Heather Taylor, manager of digital media and programs at the Dow Jones News Fund
The DJNF Internship Program help juniors, seniors and graduate students jump-start careers in journalism through hands-on internships with leading news organizations. Interns receive one week of rigorous pre-internship training, a weekly salary during the internship and a $1,500 scholarship for students and graduates with federal loans.
Interns are chosen based on their résumés, experience, performance on DJNF tests, telephone interviews, 500-word essays and the needs of media outlets. Internships are offered in:
- Audience Engagement
- Multiplatform Editing
- Data Journalism
- Digital Media
- Business Reporting
Heather Taylor will walk you through the application process and offer tips on writing a competitive application.
We'll also discuss internships at KQED, National Hearst Journalism Fellowship, American Society of Magazine Editors and other media employers.
