Covering Politics and the 2024 Elections
Overview
Hear from veteran political reporters about how they cover politics and the exciting 2024 election. You'll meet:
Joe Garofoli is the San Francisco Chronicle’s senior political writer, covering national and state politics. He has worked at the Chronicle since 2000 and in Bay Area journalism since 1992, when he left the Milwaukee Journal. He is the host of “It’s All Political,” The Chronicle’s political podcast.
Marisa Lagos is a correspondent for KQED’s California Politics and Government Desk and co-hosts a weekly show and podcast, Political Breakdown. At KQED, Lagos conducts reporting, analysis and investigations into state, local and national politics for radio, TV and online. Every week, she and cohost Scott Shafer sit down with political insiders on Political Breakdown, where they offer a peek into lives and personalities of those driving politics in California and beyond. Previously, she worked for nine years at the San Francisco Chronicle covering San Francisco City Hall and state politics; and at the San Francisco Examiner and Los Angeles Times.
Joe Fitzgerald Rodriguez is a politics reporter for The San Francisco Standard. He was raised in San Francisco and has spent his career in his beloved, foggy, city by the bay. Joe is a proud alum of City College of San Francisco and San Francisco State University. He most recently wrote for KQED’s politics team, and previously penned a local political column for the San Francisco Examiner.
Golden Gate Xpress Editor-in-Chief Gabriela Calvillo Alvarez will moderate.
