What will the cities of tomorrow look like?

San Francisco State University’s Journalism Department invites you to participate in “On Cities,” a virtual and global event featuring forward thinkers, innovators and citizens around the world. We are joining our friends at The Knight Center for International Media at the University of Miami, who have organized this event to discuss the future of life in cities and launch collaborative initiatives to find solutions to urban challenges.

Our group will meet at 12 noon on Monday, Oct. 22, in Room 308 of Humanities Building.

Along with groups being convened at the same time at the University of Miami and other locations throughout the United States and abroad, we will see a special preview of “On Cities,” a non-verbal short film by award-winning filmmaker and UM School of Communication Prof. Sanjeev Chatterjee. “On Cities” explores imminent threats to contemporary cities around the world including Dubai, Sao Paolo, Mumbai and Miami due to rapid urban development.

You also will be asked to take part in the global conversation #oncities on Twitter. Please RSVP to: Kevin Cox, kcox@sfsu.edu. For more information, see the “On Cities” website: http://knight.miami.edu/oncities.
