The State of the First Amendment: Business as Usual or Panic in the Streets

Monday, May 22, 2017

San Francisco State University’s Journalism Department will hold a timely and lively discussion about the state of the First Amendment, at a time when many news industry professionals fear it is under unprecedented attack. Others suggest there is an overreaction indicating the mainstream news media is politically biased.

In hopes of bringing some clarity to the roil, a distinguished panel of experts will lead the public event, Wednesday May 24, 2017 from 6:45 - 8:15 p.m. at Parisoma, 169 11th St, San Francisco, CA 94103. A reception will precede the event.

POLITICO California Playbook Senior Writer Carla Marinucci will moderate the discussion.

Scheduled panelists include Aimee Allison, President, Democracy in Color; Luis Alvarado, Public Affairs, Political and Media Strategist, Luis Alvarado Public Affairs Consulting; Harmeet K. Dhillon, Attorney, Dhillon Law Group Inc.; Robert Capps, Head of Editorial at Wired; Jim Wagstaffe, Attorney, Kerr & Wagstaffe; and Aaron Williams, Graphics & Data Visualization Reporter, The Washington Post.
