Journalism student featured in Chronicle column

After a classroom visit from San Francisco Chronicle East Bay columnist Otis R. Taylor Jr., sophomore Olivia Wynkoop was inspired to reach out and advocate for a homeless man in her community. The day after Taylor spoke to her Reporting class about covering poverty and homelessness, Wynkoop met a man on Muni. Though his clothes were dirty from living on the streets, Wynkoop was moved by the man's story. She took him shopping at Target and witnessed first hand the discrimination homeless people experience every day. Taylor wrote about Wynkoop in his column on Feb. 17. Read it here.
