FIELD TRIP: Rose Aguilar, host of “Your Call”

Event Date: Friday, April 19 - 9:30 am to 12:00 pm
Location: KALW’s studios: Burton High, 400 Mansell St San Francisco, CA 94134

KALW is local public radio from the San Francisco Bay Area, with BBC, NPR, and innovative programming.

Join a field trip to KALW for a behind-the-scenes look at the reporting and production of “Your Call” with Rose Aguilar.

Rose has been the host of “Your Call” since 2006. In 2005, she took a six-month road trip through the “red states” to find out why people vote the way they do (or not) and what issues they care about. Red Highways: A Journey into the Heartland chronicles her experience. Rose has written for Al Jazeera English, Truthout, The Nation, and AlterNet. She’s currently working on a book about older women activists and a new radio show focusing on investigative journalism. She is a member of the Native American Journalists Association and mentor-editor for The OpEd Project, an organization that works to increase the range of voices we hear in the media.

This field trip can count toward Journalism students’ required events. Students will need to arrange their own transport and complete an SF State field trip form.
