Covering and Uncovering Iran in the Age of Trump

Event Date: Wednesday, September 26 - 5:00 pm
Location: Humanities Building, Room 587

A conversation with Jason Rezaian (Washington Post) and Melissa Etehad (Los Angeles Times), moderated by Journalism Chair and Professor Venise Wagner. As the profession of journalism has been attacked and undermined by the charges of "fake news" from the Trump administration, many journalists are doubling down in the efforts to cover important international news that is regularly sidelined by domestic daily headlines. Reporting about Iran and U.S.-Iran relations, covering the "Muslim ban" and its impact on Iranian Americans, as well as analyzing the administration's policies in the Middle East, has made accurate and thoughtful coverage about Iran and its diaspora even more critical. Free.
