Juan González, author of “Reclaiming Gotham: Bill de Blasio and the Movement to End America’s Tale of Two Cities,” (http://thenewpress.com/books/reclaiming-gotham) will speak at 4 pm Thursday, Oct. 5, Rigoberta Menchú Hall, Terrace Level, Cesar Chavez Student Center.

González is a prominent New York reporter and co-host of the Democracy Now! television show. His new book examines New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's campaign to shift power from corporate elites to working and middle-class residents, including his efforts to reduce gentrification pressures that have displaced black and brown residents.

He also is the co-author with Joseph Torres of "News for All the People: The Epic Story of Race and the American Media."
