A former reporter with the San Francisco Chronicle and Hearst-owned San Francisco Examiner specialized in coverage of the Bay Area’s African American communities, economic development, culture and education. She is author of the memoir, “Love in the Time of Pinochet” and is working on the book, "Tracking Opportunity: Methods and tools for reporting on racial and ethnic communities," which offers tools and reporting strategies to better cover structural inequities that lead to racial disparities.
