Changing your Major to Journalism or Adding Journalism as a Minor

This minor in Journalism program is not a requirement for any credential or degree but is intended to give students an opportunity to pursue their interests in journalism in an organized way.

Because the Journalism major is in high demand, students who want to change their major to journalism or add journalism as a minor must complete the following steps:

  1. Read the Journalism Student Handbook (PDF) (located in the sidebar) to find out what a Journalism major/minor entails.
  2. If you agree that the program is right for you and you have a GPA of 2.0 or above, and have completed fewer than 96 units (majors only), you may make the change on your student center. Please see the registrar’s site if you have more than 96 units for the correct form.
